About College

Samata Shikshan Sanstha, Pune is a registered Social Service Agency established in 1972 under the leadership of Prof. Vilas Wagh With a very broad Vision to serve the down trodden and weaker Sections of the Society. Since its inception it has been rendering Social Service to the Society through a number of programmes and activities by educational and Social Service agencies such as Ashram Schools, Hostel for poor girls and boys and children homes.
The organization functions on a strong conviction that people of humanity can make a difference in the lives of many of those who are less fortunate follow being of the Society by creating a spirit of good will. Similarly, by looking into the problems of the people and needs of the area. Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar College of Social Work was started by Samata Shikshan Sanstha in the year 1994-95 at Morane, Dhule.

The College of Social Work is affliated to North Maharashtra University, Jalgaon and financially supported by Department of Social Welfare, Government of Maharashtra . The College is located on Dhule – Sakri Road at Morane about 7 kms from the center place of district and situated in the premises having about 0.167 acres of land and the building for the college purpose. It has its own library and reading room with more than 8000 Books, Journals and magazines on the subjects related to social Work.

The College imparts training in social Work both at undergraduate as well as post- graduate levels, leading to three year Bachelor of Social Work (BSW) and Two Years Masters of Social Work (MSW) courses respectively. Both the Courses are generic.

The whole process of Social Work education and training followed by the College of Social Work includes class- room teaching of theory subjects, field work practice and practical research in respective areas and fields. The Social Work training also emphasizes on exposure of students to the field realities and socio-economic conditions of the people living in rural, tribal and urban areas. Students are also involved in regular well scheduled individual conferences, group discussion, paper presentation, seminars, workshops, rural camps and study tours.

The Social Work faculty comprises of well qualified and experienced teachers in their respective fields of specialization. Both, teaching and non-teaching staff of the College work as a team having close and personal touch with the students and functioning of the College. Many students who have studied from the college are working in various sectors like government, private, NGOs, corporate. It is a well-known college in social work education in Maharashtra. This has been possible due to the invaluable contribution and joint efforts of all the stakeholders – the Management, the Staff of the College, the Students, Alumni, Field Work Agencies, and Parents.

Goals & Objectives

  • To train Students to deal with various Social problems.
  • To study and conduct research on various issues and situations.
  • To Co-ordinate and promote social work activities with various Government and Non Government Organizations.
  • To offer consultancy and assistance relating to and in pursuance of the objectives of the College.
  • To undertake and monitor all such activities which would help to improve socio-economic conditions of the community.
  • To develop communication skills among the students.
